There are three Nature Reserves in the Province of Cordoba: Montoro-Cardeña to the northwest, Hornachuelos to the west and the Subbética Mountains to the south, along with the wetlands of the Campiña, which provide a sanctuary for protected species.

Sierra de Hornachuelos Nature reserve

This area was declared a Nature Reserve in 1989. It is located in the west of the province.

Sierras Subbéticas Nature Reserve

Sierra Subbética Nature Reserve refers to an area that was protected by the Regional Government of Andalusia.

  Montoro

The Cardeña-Montoro Nature Reserve

This area was declared a Protected Natural Space in 1989. It is located in the northeast of the Province of Cordoba.

Lagunas del Sur Natural Reserve

The Nature Reserves of Laguna Amarga, Tíscar, Zoñar, Rincón, Jarales and Salobral, form part of the wetlands.

  Iznájar

Iznájar lake, known as the Lago de Andalucía, is situated in the middle of the river Genil.
